Passport

One thing for sure that I need before we can go is my Passport. first I need to get a copy of my birth certificate I downloaded the form and I went to get it notarized at the UPS store, but the Notary lady wasn't in. Ok if you advertise a Notary service. "Have a Notary on hand" Argh. I'll have to go out again and find somewhere else to get it notarized hopefully next week.

Another thing I discovered for the trip is the London Pass you buy it and you get into certain attractions and transportation and discounts at several places I also found one for Paris. I'm not exactly sure how they work, but I'll do some research and post it on here.

another new discovery

I was searching the web again today this time for the best attractions to see in London, Paris and Rome and I discovered that Expedia.com has some neat tours of each city that you can do. although the trip is really far off yet this is atleast something to keep in mind as we are figuring out prices and such

Early Estimates

I was searching today to estimate prices for the trip and remembered I'd just seen an add on TV for Kayak.com this site gives airfare and Hotel rates from lots of different sites. I have an Early estimate for prices for the Travel Aspect and Hotels. This does not include attractions, shopping or food.

$644 Round Trip to and from London
$90 Afternoon Eurostar Train to Paris
$171 Train From Paris to Rome
$95 Plane from Rome to London
$403 Each for Hotels

this estimates out to about $1400 this is using fake dates in November 2006 so it's likely to change, but this gives us atleast a minimum estimate.

Books Anyone?

I dont know how into reading you two are....but I read a lot. I have tons and tons of books. What happens to those books? Nothing. They sit on a shelf, only to show the few people that ever venture to my house, how much I read, and how smart I really am. No one else cares. So....if you go to Half.com, you can sell your used books. I am going to take inventory of all of my books and sell them. I am always buying new ones, so I dont need the old ones I'll never read again. Just something to think about!

Starting to find ways to get extra money

This week We've gone through our Closets and both Anne (my mom) and I went over to the consignment shop with 25 things each which is the maximum number of items you can bring at one time to the shop we went to. we plan on going back next week with more stuff as well as putting some of the nicer stuff on Ebay. Next up we may try some secret shopping!

Let's get this thing Started

Ok I'm starting this Blog to document my trip planning. Hopefully in November of 2007 My Mom, Sister and I and possibly 1 or 2 more people will be traveling over to Europe for atleast a 2 week stay. and hopefully by doing this we will get some advice from blog readers. So far our plan is to Travel to London and stay there for atleast 4 days and then take the Train to Paris for another 4 Days and then take another Train over to Rome and leave from there at the end of the 2 weeks. In order to make this trip a reality we will need to save up the money we are hoping to save up between $2,000-$3,000 each. In this blog I'll document how we are doing with saving up the money, what we are doing to get extra money, what we are learning new about the trip and just the general trip planning . so hopefully this blog will atleast be helpful to myself and my fellow travel companions if not to other people.
